KTM entered the Indian market in 2012. So far, the Australian company launched a 400cc or less engine. KTM is about to enter India’s premium motorbike market for the first time. KTM 790 Duke is going to be launched in India on September 11. The booking has already started for this premium bike at selected KTM dealers’ offices all over the country. The delivery of 790 Duke to India will start by the end of September. The motorcycle is expected to be launched in India at Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
It will face competition with the motorcycles like the Yamaha MT-09, Triumph Street Triple RS, Ducati Monster 821, Kawasaki Z900, Suzuki GSX-R750 in the Midweight Street Fighter segment. KTM will produce 790 Duke at the wheels factory in Maharashtra.
This is the first time that the Australian company is launching such a powerful engine motorcycle in India. The new motorcycle is much bigger and heavier than the 390 Duke. Although the 790 Duke motorcycle also has 390 Duke. The new KTM 790 Duke motorcycle will have a pitchfork LED headlamp, Sharp style muscular fuel tank split seat and LED tail light.
The KTM 790 Duke motorcycle will have a 799 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. This engine will get a maximum of 103 bhp of power and 86 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The KTM 790 Duke weighs 189 kilograms.
The new motorcycle has a 43mm upside-down fork and a mono-shock on the back. This mono-shock can be adjusted in multiple steps. The 790 Duke has 300mm disc brakes on the front wheels and 240mm disc brakes on the rear wheels. The motorcycle will have a 17-inch alloy wheel with a Maxxis Supermaxx ST tire.
The KTM 790 Duke can be run in four riding modes. These modes are Sport, Street, Rain and Track. For safety, the motorcycle has ABS with supermodel mode engine, brake control, wheelie control quick shifter. All these features can be controlled from the TFT display of the motorcycle.
