Jio tariff will surely increase, as the news has come to the market. Recently, Airtel and Vodafone–Idea have hiked their tariff-price up to 42%. These two leading telecom companies have already published their respective tariff-plans accordingly.
On the other side, in the last week, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio has announced that Jio too is going to hike their tariff-price by 40%. And it will be applicable from 6 November 2019 onward.
However, Jio has not clarified yet what it is actually thinking about this hike. But, previously it informed that the price of All-in-One plans will be increased with being bundled with 300% more benefits than before.
Interestingly, in a fresh report, it is claimed that Jio will rearrange its tariff-plans with 15% to 20% cheaper price than those of its competitors. “Similar to incumbents, we think only select packs (of Jio) will have 40% increase but popular ones could have 25-30%. We think the incremental 300% benefit which Jio is talking about is by offering more data allowances. In our view that incrementally doesn’t entice users much beyond 1.5 GB,” Bank of America Merril Lynch said in a note.
“Even after these hikes, we believe Jio will continue to be 15-20% cheaper than the incumbent operators. If Jio data allowances are not within “fair usage policy” control, then we see upside risks to our CAPEX investments”, further it added.
The report also said the tariff-hikes announced by Bharti Airtel and Vodafone-Idea (VIL) have been better than the expectation. While very low and very high denomination tariffs have been hiked by up to 41%, the popular plans hikes by 25-30%.
Though Jio itself has not spoken up much so far, it advises customers to recharge popular plans together in advance for a year to have the best deal before the hike.
