Frying pan hotel is a favourite tourist location for thrill-seekers. This is a place in the middle of the sea. The love for nature and an unknown fear of the blue stays together. Here nature can be enjoyed to the extreme- free from pollution and mechanical noise.
According to many, this is the scariest hotel in the world! But why? Where is the hotel exactly situated?
To enter this hotel, you have to travel 32 miles beyond the mainland or have to fly in a helicopter. Because there is no way to go to the hotel by land route.
The hotel stands in 32 miles south of Baldhead Island in North Carolina. The name is the ‘Frying Pan Hotel’ because the depth of the sea in this part of the ocean is low. As a frying pan is flat, shallow, this part of the sea is also shallow.
But how the hotel is built in the middle of the sea? It was a lighthouse at the beginning. This lighthouse was used by the US Coast Guard.
The lighthouse was built in 1854 to protect the ship from accidents. The Frying Pan Tower restoration was done in 1960. The steel structure was provided removing iron structure.
But by 1970 GPS technology was invented. With this technology, the sailor can easily estimate the depth of the sea. So, the lighthouse was abandoned.
Richard Mill, a resident of North Carolina, bought this lighthouse in 2010. He renovated the lighthouse situated at a height of 85 feet above the sea and turned it into a hotel. He made the structure of the hotel quite tight for the huge waves of the Atlantic.
But don’t confuse this lighthouse hotel with a five-star hotel! You won’t find the comfort of a five-star hotel here. But you can enjoy the thrill of the blue sea under the blue sky. The place is famous for catching shoals of fish.
Tourists can come here in their own boat or the hotel authorities can bring them on their own speed boat from the nearby island. Or anyone can fly to the hotel on a Helicopter if want. But in this case, the charge will be slightly higher.
The hotel has a total of eight rooms. The rooms are quite small but the blue sea is visible from every room.
A tourist has to pay $598, which is 42 thousand 898 rupees as prices in Indian currency for Frying Pan Hotel booking which is two nights and three days. These include the cost of food and travel by boat.
And if a tourist wants to reach the hotel in a helicopter it will cost $295, which is 92 thousand 898 Rupees in Indian currency.
