Chandrayaan 2 is yet to land on the moon. But it has already sent the first-ever close-view of the moon to the earth from the lunar orbit which is at the height of about 2650Km from the lunar surface. Previously, on 20 August, it stepped into the lunar orbit leaving the earth behind. And it is scheduled to land on the lunar surface on the next 7 September.
ISRO has shared the very first image on Twitter. There ISRO writes “Take a look at the first Moon image captured by Chandrayaan 2 Vikram Lander taken at a height of about 2650 km from Lunar surface on August 21, 2019. Mare Orientale basin and Apollo craters are identified in the picture.”

As it got viral over the social platform Twitterati came up once again to celebrate the success with a very positive vibe. People also became a bit nostalgic by comparing the image with the image once captured by Chandrayaan 1 back in 2008.

It’ll be simply unjust if we do not mention here the journey of Chandrayaan 2 so far in short! So here it is–
Chandrayaan 2 lifted on for the moon at 02:43 PM on 22 July of this year, boarding on GSLV Mark III rocket. Specifically, Chandrayaan 2 was sent to land on the south pole of the moon. Because no probe by any country of the world has ever been sent right there.
Chandrayaan 2 is comprised of 3 parts– Orbiter, Lander and Rover. The orbiter will be rotating along the lunar orbit. The Lander will land on the moon. The Rover will be exploring data on the lunar surface.
Finally, we should clarify that the image we are writing about has been taken by the Lander Namely Vikram!
